Collingwood O’Hare moved into its own spacious studios in West London in September 1996, following a year of construction and adaptation of an old Salvation Army Hall. Designed by the award-winning architects Harper Mackay, the premises is built to incorporate ISDN, Cat-5 cabling and other digital technology so the company is prepared for the emerging technologies and markets.
It is usual for COE to have one or two productions in development, alongside the principal show in full production, at any one time. Two shows have never been produced concurrently in-house, development and production is usually staggered with one in post-production as the next moves out of development and into scripting and pre-production. This allows each show to get the full attention of the creative team and ensure that every COE series is of top quality both creatively and technically.
